How I work

Most projects bring together developers, business analysts, project owners, and designers. The questions from requirements gathering (who the work is for, what they need to do, what goal sits behind each request) decide what the interface should do. From there it becomes prototypes, front-end systems, and production components.

From requirements to release

  1. Understand the problem

Bring user needs, content constraints, stakeholder requirements, and delivery realities into the same conversation.

  2. Make it tangible

Use flows, wireframes, and working prototypes to examine behavior before a team commits it to a platform.

  3. Build for reuse

Turn approved decisions into accessible front-end patterns and CMS components that teams can maintain.

Frameworks

Comfortable across frameworks, with Angular and Vue at the top of the list. In an unfamiliar codebase, the first step is learning its component and state patterns, then checking that the implementation supports the intended experience.

Accessibility from the start

I plan for structure, keyboard behavior, content, and assistive technology while an experience is being defined and built. Sometimes that means building less: on Digital Guidelines, we moved to recommending the native date input over our custom calendar, because the custom one was too hard to make accessible.

This site follows the same standard

  • Semantic structure and visible keyboard focus
  • Equivalent navigation across desktop and mobile
  • AA-tested color and reduced-motion support

Experience

More than 14 years building digital experiences. At the Center for Shared Solutions, that means State of Michigan services: the Digital Guidelines design system, the Michigan.gov platform, and the MEDC website.

I studied at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and work in both English and Spanish.
